When a bad day at work suddenly becomes a good one...

No dust-jacket, but still worth a few pennies. Like the signed, first edition Siegfried Sassoon I found a few weeks ago, it was in a dusty plastic crate, surrounded by dog-eared paperbacks and worthless book club editions of forgotten novels.

Wow! So, how do you feel when you find something like this? Does your heart start thumping? Is it an adrenalin rush? Do you jump up and down, or emit a little squeal of delight? Enquiring minds want to know!

There are three stages:

1. Disbelief - would anyone really throw out a signed Evelyn Waugh?

2. Elation - I tend to punch the air and issue an expletive.

3. Loneliness - If I told any of my colleagues, they wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about.

Thank God for blogging - I can share these moments with people who understand.
